How to find your CN code
A CN code (Combined Nomenclature) is the 8-digit product code EU customs uses. The first 6 digits are the international HS code — the same worldwide — and the EU adds 2 more digits. CBAM coverage is defined by CN code, so it is the key that unlocks everything else.
Where to find it
- Your export customs declaration (DUM) — the Déclaration Unique de Marchandises you (or your transitaire) file with Moroccan customs lists the HS code of every line. Your CN code starts with the same 6 digits.
- Your commercial invoice — many exporters print the HS/CN code on each line item.
- Your freight forwarder (transitaire) — they classify your goods for every shipment and can give you the exact code in minutes.
- Your EU importer — they must enter the full 8-digit CN code in their own customs entry, so they already have it.
Look it up yourself
The EU’s free Access2Markets portal lets you search product descriptions and browse from the HS-6 code down to the EU’s 8-digit CN variants.
Once you have the code, type it into the CBAM Suite search. Code not in the list? Here is what that means.
