My code isn't listed — covered or not?
The CBAM Suite carries every valid code from the official registry goods list. When you type a code it does not find, it does not stop there — it walks up the customs hierarchy:
- First the 6-digit subheading, then the 4-digit heading. If covered goods share that heading, your product is very likely covered too — CBAM scope is defined at the level the official list uses, and neighbouring codes under one heading are usually variants of the same product family.
- In that case the wizard proposes the closest covered goods to continue with. Before anything is filed, the exact 8-digit code should be confirmed against Annex I of Regulation (EU) 2023/956 — your importer’s customs agent does this as a matter of routine.
- If nothing matches at any level, your code is outside the CBAM goods scope — you likely have no CBAM obligation for that product. Textiles, food, machinery, electronics and most other goods are not covered today.
Worth double-checking when…
- You are not sure the code you typed is right — re-check it on your DUM or with your transitaire (how to find it).
- Your product sits near the edge of a covered chapter (e.g. mixed metal assemblies). Ask your EU importer how they classify it.
